The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust is committed to protecting from harm all people who benefit from the work of the Trust including beneficiaries and other people who come into contact with the Trust through its work. All children and vulnerable adults should be able to enjoy the sport of tennis in a safe, supportive environment.
The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust predominately provides funding directly to individuals to allow them to participate in tennis activities. The Trust also provides funding to coaches, schools and tennis clubs to allow them to run tennis activities for disabled people. From time to time the Trust runs its own events.
The Trust follows the Safeguarding Policy set by the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) – Britain’s Governing Body for the sport of tennis. Should any individual raise a concern with the Trust over a Safeguarding issue, the LTA Safeguarding team is contacted immediately for advice and to report the issue. All coaches applying for funding through the Trust, or coaching those who have received funding, must be a licensed LTA coach, who subscribe to the LTA’s stringent policy. This is checked on each application – exceptions can only be made if the coach or organisation can provide their own safeguarding evidence and DBS checks.
During exceptional circumstances such as the Covid 19 Pandemic, the Dan Maskell Tennis Trust follows all policies set by the LTA, which were developed in consultation with DCMS.
The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust recognises that implementation of a safeguarding statement is an on-going process and should be constantly reviewed, especially if any changes occur to the Trust’s operating procedures.
