Dan Maskell Tennis Trust
Serving Tennis to Disabled People

Robbie Hampshaw

Robbie is a hardworking tennis player who trains every day from Monday through to Saturday, with Sundays kept as a rest day, although he often ends up competing in a tournament or in a league match!

Robbie competes in the Learning Disability LTA tournament schedule, travelling across the UK to take part. In 2023 at the Learning Disability National Finals, Robbie won two gold medals, one in singles making him the National Champion for players with Down Syndrome, and gold in the doubles, where he played against players with a mix of learning disabilities.

The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust has supported Robbie over the last 4 years with grants towards his coaching costs. This year Robbie achieved his dream of representing Great Britain! Robbie travelled with Team GB to France for the Virtus World Tennis Championships and won bronze medals in both singles and doubles. The experience was amazing for Robbie; staying with the team for over 10 days, international travel and meeting players from all over the world. Robbie’s doubles partner was from Egypt and he and Robbie developed a strong bond, with Robbie making sure he always looked out for his partner, on and off court.

Robbie also represents Heron in the Men’s doubles league teams throughout the summer and winter months. This is something he takes pride being a part of. The Dan Maskell Trust are so proud to support Robbie and are always impressed by his commitment and hard work. We love seeing our funding help players to achieve their dreams.
