Celebrating its 10th year, The Wimbledon Foundation has chosen Dan Maskell Tennis Trust as one of four charities to choose a representative to perform the pre-match coin toss at the Singles Finals, including the Wheelchair Singles Finals for the first time.
Alex Batt aged 10 will be performing the coin toss on Court No. 1 on Sunday before the Gentlemen’s Wheelchair Singles final which will feature Alex’s hero Alfie Hewett. Alex was chosen as our representative to perform the coin toss as he is a great example of the player that we love to support as he is at the beginning of his pathway in wheelchair tennis, and just like when we supported Alfie Hewett when he was a boy, we are proud to help Alex find his love of our sport.
We are super proud and excited to have been chosen for this honour. The Trust has been associated with Wimbledon for many years and latterly supported by the Wimbledon Foundation and if Dan Maskell was still alive he would be thrilled that the Trust named after him is still going strong with its connection to Wimbledon and also how wheelchair tennis is now an integral part of the Championships.
